Cemex Angling Up For Sale

Future uncertain for portfolio of waters with massive angling organisation up for grabs.
The future of some of the country’s most famous carp waters could hang in the balance following the news that the largest commercial angling organisation in the UK has been put up for sale.

Cemex Fisheries runs nearly 70 different stillwater and 20 river venues around the south of the country, including such famous waters as Horton Church Lake, the Roach Pit and Yately Carpark Lake. However a statement from Cemex UK operations today has revealed that the Angling arm of the operation is being put up for sale.

A statement released by the management of the company read about the situation read:

‘A difficult decision has been made to put CEMEX Angling up for sale. As part of the regular and on-going business reviews, we have decided that Angling is not core to our operations and in the current economic climate we have limited resources and capital to develop the business in the future.
We will be honouring existing tickets sold and will be selling tickets for this season only.’

The news follows a number of years of uncertainty for Cemex Angling, including the leaving of the fishery manager Mick Barnes in 2010 and then his replacement Roo Newby in 2011.

The announcement however, will still come as a huge shock to thousands of carp anglers who fish Cemex venues, with many now fearing that access to some of the best big fish waters could be lost forever.

Details of the sale are not yet know, but Total Carp will bring you news as we learn more.
