"an Amazing Day"

Cancer charity match raises over £1,000.
A charity match, set up to raise money in memory of Claire Penning, the sister-in-law of well-known carp angler, Adam, has raised £1,067.62 for charity.

Adam's brother, Ben, explained: "Maybe once in a lifetime a complete stranger will go to great lengths to help you.

"I was lucky enough to meet a handful of such people going above and beyond to raise an extraordinary amount of money for Cancer Research in honour of Claire Penning, who they sadly never had the pleasure of meeting.

"I am eternally grateful for your warmth, hospitality and generosity today.

"Love and thanks to Adam Penning for stepping in when my voice deserted me, Hollin Bush AC, Ivan, and John for bullying all that cash out of the pub punters, Ray Lane for the free venue, and most of all to Richard and Jackie from Match Aid and Arthur Reeve for making it all happen."

Event organiser Richard Anderson added: "An amazing day was had by all. Lovely sunshine, and the lake fished hard but everyone had a fantastic time. A big thank you to Ray Lane for donating the pool free of charge for the day's event, Arthur Reeve for organising the Race For Claire Fund, also a very heartfelt thank you to Adam and Ben Penning for supporting the day.

"An emotional presentation took place after, and we were very pleased and honoured to be able to present Ben with a cheque for the combined total of £1,067.62. May we also take this opportunity to thank all the anglers who gave up their time and were willing to travel long distances to take part. Thank you also to John Burton of Hollin Bush AC for the donation of £400 plus an extra £50 for finishing fifth. Without your support events like this would not be possible."
