Prestigious venue shut to anglers following series of unexplained big fish mortalities. One of the country’s best-known carp lakes has been closed to anglers following a string of unexplained fish deaths. Horseshoe Lake in the Cotswolds, the famous home of the Carp Society, has lost an estimated 60 big carp since the spring, with at least one fish dying at the water per day throughout August. So far the specimens lost have range in size between mid-doubles and low twenties, with none of the venue’s large head of 30lb plus fish having been affected.

This is our busiest period of the year, so fishing time is at a premium. However, I managed a couple of trips to a local water and caught this, and another chunky common in the mid-twenties. I’ve been trying to improve my floater fishing, something that might take some work I can tell you, but persistence will pay eventually, I’m sure! I’m still getting the odd round of golf in too – remember fishing is just part of our lives, not all of it. MARC COULSON, EDITOR.

It’s been a hectic month in the TC office but I’ve still managed to get out and bank a few. This cracking mirror was one of four fish caught on a feature at Bury Hill Fishery. I’ve also been doing a bit of floater fishing on a local venue after work. To say I’m rusty is an understatement!JASON UMNEY, EDITORIAL ASSISTANT.

I recently joined the TC team and I’m loving it! I can’t wait to get stuck in to my career here. This month I’ve done a few nights on my local pit and snuck a few out. Mainly, though, I’ve been spending a lot of time walking and prebaiting my local river. So, hopefully, if all goes to plan, I’ll have something special to show you soon.

New DVD to document record brace of 50lb carp caught by Kevin Nash. News has just reached us that carping legend Kevin Nash is producing a DVD which will be on-sale in time for Christmas. The DVD, titled 'The Final Account', is a self-filmed portrayal of a number of fishing sessions at Nash's own Essex venue, The Copse Lake and his search for the common named the Emperor. Film fans of Nash may recall that this is the carp he set out to catch during 'In Pursuit', the DVD he made six years ago.

Massive common breaks county record as angler does his home work to target fish. The biggest carp ever caught in Lancashire has been landed at a weight of 47lb 6oz.

Banked at Clitheore’s Pendle View Fishery, the fish known as Butt Head was captured by Scottish angler Adrian Blantford during a week-long session at the venue. “I was working in Lancashire so instead of booking into a bed and breakfast I decided to book onto Pendle View for the week with the intention of catching Butt Head,” said an ecstatic Adrian.

Road Lake delivers pair of stunners to big fish ace. Carp ace Sean Leverett has been getting amongst the big fish netting a brace of beauties weighing in at 37lb and 35lb 4oz. Fishing Cemex’s Road Lake on a 48hour session, the Nash and Diem Angling-backed rod took both fish on a custom boilie made from a Nash base mix. This was fished on a size 6 Nash Fang X hook to a 20lb stiff fluro hooklink over a bed of prototype boilies and Bait Zone particles.
