Potato Bait?

Question: Does anybody use par-boiled potatoes these days? If not, why not? If so, what’s the best way to present them? Albert Maclaren, via www.totalcarpmagazine.com

Marc Coulson says: Erm, the simple answer there is no, I do not know of anybody who uses potatoes. To be fair, the main reason for this is that there are far more effective baits available these days. Boilies are my first choice in most situations. If you cannot afford boilies (£12 per kilo on average nowadays) then you can still get some very affordable alternatives, such as chickpeas, maize and some nuts.
