Following the success of the Ascent brolly, the team at Avid strived to make it even better for this season and we believe it has succeeded. One of the most beneficial improvements has to be the inner skin. Already fitted to the system, it eliminates condensation and that dreaded drip that is common on umbrellas across the board. Another benefit is the layer of cool air that forms in the summer months, resulting in a much cooler shelter.

Having reviewed the various bits in the Red Amo range on several occasions, getting the chance to actually use it was quite exciting. I don’t get too excited about many baits but this offered something genuinely a little bit different to the norm. Based on the original Monster Tiger Nut boilie, Dynamite has added several extra ingredients including a particularly interesting fruit palatant that gives the bait a completely different profile. Several Dynamite anglers have testified to the effectiveness of Red Amo during testing and I’ve seen first hand a few of these lads catching well on it.

It’s been a long time coming, but the eagerly anticipated COG (Centre Of Gravity) lead system is finally here and I reckon it looks a winner. The unique system, which features some extra components and a recess in the top of the lead itself, offers the hooking potential of an inline lead but with the ejection qualities of a lead-clip arrangement. I can’t remember the last time I used a lead clip as, many moons ago, I ran some tests on various lead setups and found the lead clip to be the absolute worst in terms of hooking and bite indication. Okay, it drops the lead efficiently, but in all other areas I just don’t rate a lead clip at all.

IN HIS FIFTH BLOG HARVEY RETURNS TO HIS TARGET WATER IN READING FOR AN AUTUMNAL SESSION, AND WHAT A SESSION IT WAS TOO. I was gagging to get down to my Syndicate lake in Reading for another session. I got to the lake for around 10am and managed to get set up before the heavy rain started. So while I was sat in mybivvy waiting for the kettle to boil, I was watching the water, particularly had my eyes on this area which was120yards out with a band of lily pads behind it.

These are the ultimate in quick-entry waders and allow you to literally jump into them and then into the water in an instant. Neoprenes do not allow you to do this, taking far too long to get on, albeit they will offer more insulation in really cold water. The 740 is Vass’ top-end chest wader with supremely robust material, chunky boot and protective knee panels. Everything you’d want in a chest wader and, despite the features and benefits, they’re priced extremely well.

Total Carp Reader Carl Peake says: I was pleasantly surprised when I received this little bundle of Cling-On items and have so far enjoyed using them. . . well, most of them at least.
