This is a purpose-built solution for all those fiddly rigs that don’t currently have a home; yes we’re talking long zig and curved chod rigs. Supplied with six discs – two of each size of large, medium and small – as well as 18 pins to ensure your rigs stay in place in perfect condition. The largest of the three discs is ideal for use with zig rigs, with a measured diameter of six inches, so two wraps around and that’s a foot. The smaller of the discs, which suits chod rigs, can also be used to help you steam the perfect curve time and time again.

Being able to manoeuvre your baits into inaccessible places can sometimes be the difference between a bite and a blank and, in this 12m pole, Cygnet has come up with the perfect way to do so. Obviously it only works at short range (up to 12 metres) but for poking bait and rigs under marginal bushes or even discreetly doing the same to a canal far bank, this is ideal. The pole is similar to one that would be used by the match angling fraternity, but it features a sturdy thread at the tip end, to which the spoon section screws on. This large spoon has been designed with a flat base in the bottom part of the ‘bowl’, making it a lot steadier when shipping out.

Echo Pools in France has been producing some whoppers in the last few weeks, with 'Colin' being caught over the bank holiday and on Wednesday, Lawrence (pictured below) banked the 52lb 8oz Silver Common to add to his already impressive catch list. Timmy Argent has been on them again over in France this morning adding to his already impressive tally. He can now add 'Wendy' to his photo album and at a very impressive 58lb 10oz's we wonder if he has had his quota for this visit. Not a gambling man but I wouldn't bet against it.

Warren Plant has just caught the carp of his lifetime when he landed 'Colin' a common at Echo Pools in France. Here he tells you in his own words about that special moment that will live with him forever. From all of us at Total Carp, well done! Anybody who knows their carp, knows the name of Colin the Common and knows he resides in Echo Pool, owned and managed by Andy and Tasha Walker who made our stay at Echo a special one. The two anglers for the week were myself and my good friend and carp angler, Jon Philips, who is the main person I owe this capture to.

The Learn to Fish Carp Academy in association with Angling Direct will launch at a lake in the London Borough of Havering in an attempt to get children from London, Essex, Herts & Kent away from the computer screens and back into the great outdoors during the School holidays with one of the nations favourite pass times fishing. Concentrating on the fast growing carp fishing scene, children will learn the basics of fishing from qualified coaches with the chance at landing a big fish to show their friends. The first bookable sessions are starting from the 28th of May 2016 and are open to children aged 7-15 at Tylers Common Fishery in Upminster. Although this is a paid event it does include free Membership to the Academy, free fishing equipment hire supplied by Angling Direct whilst all bait for the session is provided free by Baitcraft.

I was looking for new rods that would not only suit my price range but have everything I needed from a rod – strength, 50mm butt rings to ensure my distance casting and look stylish because I’m a bit of a tackle tart. I also wanted something that was slim and lightweight but with enough push to be able to reach my required distances. I was lucky enough to get sponsored by Free Spirit and was given three CTX in 3. 25lb-test-curve rods with 50mm butt ring and a spod rod and stalker rod.

Hi, my name is Tyler Lane. As you may already know from my last blog, last year I entered the British Young Carpers’ Angling Championship (BYCAC). My eliminator day was on a Thursday, so we drove up the night before. On the morning of the eliminator I went down to the marquee.

Solar Tackle field tester Gunther De Vos has kicked his season off nicely with this 38lb 8oz mirror landed landed on an overnighter on his Belgian syndicate, which is a section of The Schelde river that was dammed off 200 years ago. Gunther explains: "I fished my home syndicate for an overnighter in an area that I'd pre-baited with some of Solar Tackle’s Pink & White test baits. "I'd stuck the baits in my freezer on receiving them, taking them out after 12 hours, shaking off the excess ice and then covering them in rock salt. As the baits thawed they soaked in some of the salt, which is a tactic I've used to great success in previous spring seasons (always before the carp spawn).

I¹m absolutely buzzing! I managed to get in two nights¹ fishing at my syndicate lake at Mid Kent Fisheries over the Easter holiday Good Friday and Easter Sunday. On the Friday a 28lb 1oz common graced my net within an hour of setting up. Although no more action occurred during that night, I returned to top the swim up on Saturday with bait and on Sunday I arrived to fortunately find the swim vacant and that nobody had fished it. My arrival on Sunday coincided with Storm Katie, a big low-pressure system loaded with severe storm-force winds and rain.
