We first saw this at the Tackle & Guns Trade Show when it was shown for the first time. Essentially, it’s a unit that attaches to the top of RidgeMonkey’s Modular Bucket, and allows you to chop boilies in seconds. The rugged build and huge ‘teeth’ make light work of even frozen baits and all you have to do is put them in, close the lid and turn the handle. I don’t imagine I’d ever take one of these on the bank because it’s a bit big and I like to travel as light as possible, but plenty of you reading this will.

Although described as marker leads, I think these are better suited to actually dragging spots to see what’s down there. The problem with using them to explore the bottom is that as soon as you hit any weed you have to retrieve it to clear it all off before being able to recast. That’s my take, but plenty of anglers on the Fox team have been using them in testing to good effect and they are certainly excellent for finding out exactly what your spot is made up of. £5.

My initial reaction to these was something along the WTF lines because the radical shape is like nothing I’ve seen before. Fox says that by removing the section at the back of the lead, the position of the swivel now means that the carp impacts the full weight of the lead on picking up the baited rig. It sounds plausible enough, but I’d like to try them out on the bank to really see how they work. £1.

With a whopping 10,000 Hydrostatic Head, this is about as waterproof as clothing from fishing companies gets, yet it’s both lightweight and extremely easy to pack away. Sealed zips feature throughout, which is essential in a suit of this nature, and these include half zips on the leg of the trousers to make them a doddle to get on and off without taking off your boots. It would be wrong not to mention the price here because this is a lot of money for a decent quality ‘stash suit’ of this nature but, let’s face it, they’ll probably actually sell for a little less than this as well. £119.

I love this three-quarter-length jacket (there are matching bib ‘n’ braces available too) because it’s not only waterproof but features a Sherpa-Tec fleece lining for that extra bit of insulation and warmth. It’s not going to get you through a Polar expedition, but that’s not its intended design, but it is ideal for the late autumn and into winter. If conditions get really Baltic then a bit of layering underneath makes it more than capable of seeing you through. Proper YKK zips feature, which is a must for me because this is the main area where clothing of this nature can fail, so well done to Fox for that.

In response to public demand for a larger version of the popular EOS 10000 reels, Fox has introduced this larger 12000 version in two models. Considering the price tag, each is a pretty smooth operator and I hope Fox has ordered plenty in advance because they’re surely going to be big sellers. The list of features is impressive, especially with that price tag in mind. I keep referring to the price but with good reason; this is a heck of a lot of reel for that sort of money.

Gone are the days when fishing glasses made you look like an extra from The Fly, as carp anglers in particular have become more fashion conscious in every aspect of their apparel. These polarised sunglasses come in four styles, each of which would not look out of place when worn casually, yet they boast excellent-quality lenses that offer that polarisation and UV protection. There are three versions, namely the Classics, Wraps and Aviators, and there are a variety of frame and lens combinations. Each looks the part and will appeal to anglers with differing individual tastes.

Travelling light has always been deemed as an aspect for river anglers or dedicated bank crawlers awaiting a stalking opportunity, well I think this is as far from the truth as it could be. Of course, it is more essential for such anglers but, no matter where you fish, what you fish for, or how long your next session is, the lighter you are, the more mobile and adaptable you can be and it’s better to be prepared than not. Carp care is paramount whether you travel light or take everything including the kitchen sink. As part of the established Atom Concept range, this lightweight unhooking mat provides a compact fish-care solution utilising the best materials available.

Let me begin by saying that I have only been using this on and off for two months and by no means am I claiming to be an expert in the technology this device utilises. However, that said, it is insanely cool and equally, if not more, practical than it may first appear. So what is it? It’s a small, compact and completely portable fish-finding device that also relays depths, substrate and temperature straight back to your hand-held device, which in my case was my Android smartphone. Firstly I was surprised at how easy it was to set up.
