Check ’EM out!Available in two sizes, standard and king size, the Flat Out sleeping bag has been redesigned with TC regular Dave Lane (maybe he feels the cold in his old age?). Utilising the best available materials, the windproof outer fabric eliminates draughts, suiting the angler who either dares to fish under the stars or with an open-fronted brolly or shelter. Boasting a luxurious inner fleece lining to provide instant and sustained warmth throughout the night, there are also two baffles, which now run along the zip to further reduce any risk of draughts or cold spots forming. Synthetic materials fill the bag to ensure it retains its heat and offers superb insulation properties once you’re inside.

Dan Murrell’s verdict - Unrivalled comfort, super-sturdy and lightweight. Simply brilliant. I have always been a fan of big beds. I like space and I like being able to move, and over the years I have extensively used the Nash Wideboy, and more recently the larger variety of the Avid Benchmark.

Spring is often a tricky time of year when a five-season sleeping bag can be too much but, equally, a three-season bag just doesn’t cut it. Well, to accompany the ever-popular Stealth X-Lite bedchair, the team at JRC have been busy getting this new bedchair cover to market ready for spring. With a water-resistant outer layer the bedchair cover is perfect for spending a night under the stars without the risk of waking up drenched thanks to the rain or early morning dew. Internally, the cover benefits from a warm micro-fleece lining to ensure the heat produced within stays within, keeping the user warmer for longer.

With winter upon us, it’s important to choose the right sleeping bag and the Magmatex 4 Season could be just the bag for you. Comprising two fleece-lined bags, it has been designed with versatility in mind, offering a single sleeping bag solution for the whole year. The inner three-season bag can be removed altogether for a comfortable summer bag, or used in conjunction to create an extremely protective winter bag. Constructed from Hydro-Tec material, the outer skin is rated to an impressive 12,000mm hydrostatic head that not only boasts exceptional waterproof capabilities but retains a superb breathability characteristic, ensuring you stay warm and dry without sweating in even the worst of weathers.

This time last year we were excited to be attending the annual Tackle & Guns Trade Show and one product that really stood out was the Nash Tackle Air Shroud, so much so that TC editor Marc Coulson simply couldn’t resist getting one. Well a year on and I can report that we are just as supportive and impressed with the product as when we first saw it. Utilising a single-season hollow-fibre filling, the Air Shroud is a completely waterproof, twin-layered overblanket that’s perfect for use as either a single airy layer in hot, muggy conditions or as a protective additional layer in extreme winter conditions. Unlike many of the conventional shrouds, the generous size allows it to encompass the bed while retaining enough material to prevent draughts around the side skirt and allowing you to throw it over your head, giving protection from the elements and the dreaded mozzies.

With winter well and truly upon us, a warm sleeping bag is paramount. This five-season version from Vision is brilliant. The fully waterproof and breathable Windtex fabric houses a four-season, single, fleece-lined, thermal quilt to keep you toasty in even the worst of conditions. The detachable pillow offers added comfort, while the fabric hoods at the base and head ends fit over your bedchair to fix it in place.

Our editor, Marc Coulson, is quite a harsh critic when it comes to certain tackle items and sleeping bags are often hard pressed to impress him. Nevertheless, when he checked out these three new bags from Avid Carp, at its recent autumn trade and press event, he was immediately impressed. Here’s what Marc had to say: “Obviously, you can only truly test a sleeping bag out on the bank, in the conditions for which it is designed. However, initial impressions of the new Arctic series are extremely good.
