World Record Common Dead

World-beating fish found belly up.
The fish, which smashed the World Common Carp record earlier in the year, has been found dead.

The record was set back in April, when Colin Smith banked the monster at a weight of 100lb 8oz from France’s Etang Saussaie Fishery.

At the time, the fish came agonisingly close to the full world record of 101lb 4oz, which was a mirror caught by Romanian rod Roman Hanke.

Although saddened, many anglers were not surprised to hear of the fish's death, however, as it has since been caught twice – putting it under an enormous amount of stress.

The on-site fishery manager, Nathan Bailiff, said: "I regret to inform you that I found Saussie's big common popped up dead in the lake. Here's to an extraordinary fish."
