Richard Shenton Shows Us How He Does His Multi Rigs

So over the last season I have been using the Multi Rig, as it suits my style of fishing as I generally use bollies in my fishing and find a spread of bollies over an area with a hi-viz pop up works best for me. I have found that everything works perfectly together in this situation.  I always test my rigs in the water's edge to make sure it's sitting correctly and everything is working the way I want it.

It's a pretty simple rig to construct, I always like to fish a large hook capable of hooking the largest of fish as would hate to lose fish for the sake of not being prepared.  In retrospect I also fish a pop up bait to match the hook size to keep buoyancy to a maximum.

3

I start of by taking a length of Korda N-Trap soft silt coated hook link roughly about 8-9iches long. I make a figure of eight loop knot in one end just slightly bigger than the hook that I will be using (Approx 20mm long).

4

I repeat the process at the other end of the hook link but make the loop slightly smaller,  when making the loop at either end I always make sure I wet the figure of eight loop knots before I tighten them down.

I then take the hook link with the biggest loop at one end and slid the hook link through the eye of a size 4 Kraken Offset Hook, I then slide a micro ring swivel over the loop. The hook bead is last to go on just over the hook point round the shank just on the bend of the hook. The hook is then passed through the hook link material and pulled tight up to the hook bead.

I then cut of a small length of bait floss and thread it through the ring swivel, I then choose my bait which in this case is the EvolutionCarpTackle maggot clusters in yellow along with a trimmed down yellow Evolutioncarptackle corn stack.

8

I thread four or five maggot clusters onto a baiting needle followed by a piece of yellow corn. Pulling the bait floss through the corn and maggot clusters I then tie a granny knot passing a bait stop through the floss followed by a couple more granny knots. Finally I trim down the tag ends and blob with a lighter. I tend to use a micro rig ring as I like the movement that the swivel offers.

Once I'm happy that the bait is positioned and sitting on the hook correctly I pass the other end of the hook length through a stripping tool and strip a small section of the coated braid, just enough to allow a bit of movement for when the fish picks up the bait.

12

I then take some putty and wrap it around the ruffled part of the coating just to help keep the rig pinned to the lake bed, the final thing I like to do to all my rigs is to steam them to make sure they are poker straight and all my knots and loops are steamed just how I like them.

I like to fish all of my rigs on a quick release link helping me to change the rig should I need to.  Obviously the biggest benefit of this rig is the fact that you can change the hook should you need to and present it with a hi-viz pop up works best for me. I have found that everything works perfectly together in this situation.  I always test my rigs in the water's edge to make sure it's sitting correctly and everything is working the way I want it.
