Additional Info: Rusty spawned out at at 38lb and a New PB. Arriving at Sandhurst for a social with the ClubCarp team, I jumped into a peg on the back of the wind. Having had a lead about I located a Sandy plateau only 3.5 wraps out to my right, with the substrate being clear I opted to present a baitworks balanced wafter on a D-Rig presentation, constructed using the Thinking Anglers think link, size 5 curve shank hook and tungsten dropper. Flicking the rig onto to spot, I put two large spombs over the top with Baitworks Atlantic Heat boilies and Sticky Baits bloodworm pellet. I’d not long sat down with a couple of the team, when my receiver burst into life with an absolute one-toner! Running to the rod, I could hear the line stripping from the spool. As I lifted the rod pulled into the fish, it breached 40yards out. The pressure was on and a 45 minute battle ensued, with a heavy plodding sensation each time I brought the fish closer to the bank it would make huge 30 yard runs back into the middle of the lake. With close friends offering support and encouragement we eventually lifted the net around a huge mirror! Instantly I knew this was a PB by the deafly silence of those around me, we got her up on the scales and I couldn’t believe it a new PB of 38lb! After a few shots and the traditional soaking with a bottle of Champs we slipped her back to go on and make another anglers dream come true, leaving me with the biggest smile and a moment in time which will take some beating
