Never has a more appropriate name been given to a product, as the rest of the DHP office staff will testify after we accidentally sprayed some on bait while indoors. The smell is not offensive, we’ve likened it to beef-flavoured Hula Hoops, but it lingers for days. Herein lies its strength. Just one spray onto a hook bait, floater or zig and, unlike many additives, it stays on the bait for a very long time, multiple casts in fact.
Tc Reader Steve Morris From Manchester Says: I do plenty of surface fishing and I’m a stickler for using the right gear. Until these arrived I’d not actually used them before. I thought they looked great as I opened the first of the three that I had been sent and my good first impressions continued when I set the middle-sized, 15g, float up, which was a doddle. It cast out accurately and without too much fuss but I have to say that it sat so low in the water that I did occasionally struggle to pick it out, unless fishing at very close range.
Classic, well-prepared hempseed with a pungent garlic flavour – a real carpy favourite. Hemp will keep carp grubbing around in your swim for far longer than boilies and pellets and the garlic flavour in these only adds to the attraction and all-round profile of the seeds. Berkley Gulp!’s particles are all PVA-friendly, so provide a real edge when used in sticks or solid bags – convenience and effectiveness in one. Provided the seeds remain below the level of the liquid in the tubs, they also remain useable for long periods without going off.

Mid session change yields giant mirror. Top northern carper, Scott Lloyd has banked a corking Oxfordshire mirror from his syndicate water, after reading the water and making a mid session tactical change. The Korda backed ace explained: “On arrival at the swim, I got the rods out as quickly as possible, placing them on top of a lovely gravel bar, at around 50 yards range. To begin with I thought the bar was nice and clean but as the session wore on, I was to learn that my initial judgement of the area was slightly wrong.
New gazebo-style shelter launched. Top
carp fishing manufacturer Avid Carp is to release a new screen-house-style gazebo, specifically aimed at anglers who fish on the Continent. Avid
Carp's Jason Umney explained: "After speaking to our team of
European consultants about fishing on the Continent, it quickly became
apparent that lots of European anglers, and anglers from the UK visiting
the Continent, were using gazebo-style shelters to cook and socialise
in on long sessions. Knowing that most anglers were purchasing gazebos
that were made for the camping market, in a whole host of bright
colours, we decided to design a shelter specifically with carp anglers
in mind.
Linear session yields new PB for Bristol rod. Korda ace Jake Taylor enjoyed a welcome break at Linear Fisheries last week and banked himself a new PB carp in the process. The Bristol-based angler explained: "With five nights at my disposal, I planned to get up there after work on Tuesday night and meet a good friend of mine, Jamie Everard. We were hoping to fish on Manor but when we arrived the lake was already stitched up, so after looking around the other lakes on the complex we opted to fish Oxlease, which has a good head of fish in it and represented a good chance for us to get a bend in the rods.

Korda aces banks four good fish on short session. Rich Seeds enjoyed a memorable overnighter last week, banking four good fish, the best being a 33lb 8oz common! He explained: “Over the summer I have only been able to get on the bank once a week.
