Zipadee
OG.Carp | Sep 25, 2024
Angler Name: Ollie Goodhew
Hometown: Tunbridge Wells
Fish Weight: 35lb
Bait: Baitworks
Venue: Chilham Mill
Rig: Slip D
Tactics: Holes in weed
Additional Info: Tactics/ additional info: After setting up on showing fish just on dark after work I thought I’d hit the jackpot and I was on for a few bites, but after a slow couple of nights only landing one small common, it was evident the fish we’re actually showing as they vacated the area. The Chilham carp are extremely nomadic, if you’re not on them at all times you simply won’t catch them.
For the last few hours of my session I got on the move and found a group held up on the back of the wind. Fishing small clearings in the weed I managed 5 bites in a couple hours , including one of my main targets “Zipadee” at 35lb and a unique pink tipped common. It goes to show that staying on your toes moving round the pond rather than waiting for them to come to you definitely pays dividends, and a few hours in the right spot is all you need.
