Additional Info: On Saturday i did a 24 hour session on my 105 acre syndicate water, however after waking up Sunday morning it was clear the carp where not on my chosen area, so i slipped the waders on and walked out to a spot down the left margin in the bay i was fishing and found a spot that was right to the top of my waders, i baited this with 5kg of Atlantic heat and moster red, i packed away and got the gear in the car, however while driving home with my dad i had an urge to be somewhere else, a venue i had fished multiple times and even landed carp up to 30lb, i hadn't been in over a year and i had another 2 weeks at my disposal to get some fishing done before work took over, so i quickly drove to asda to get some food and got my gear reorganised, after that it was a simple 1 hour drive to norton disney for a 4 night session, when i got there i wanted to he on holdens lake as this is my favourite and has the carp i would dearly love to catch a carp called dawsey last out at 38lb, i had a walk around holdens lake and a swim i haven't fished before was free, swim 1 controlling the margin to the right and a bay, it was clear the fish were down here in numbers, but after talking to a few other anglers they all gave me the same answer, "its fishing hard at the moment" "theres only been 1 fish out in the last 4 days". Even though they mentioned this it didn't push me off inwas confident the fish were down here and were catchable, knowing the fish see large beds of bait and bright hookbaits all the time i went with the subtle approach, and arguably my favourite approach, i started scattering moster red and Atlantic heat freezer baits in 15mm with the throwing stick around the margin and out in open water hopefully making the carp feel safe, i deployed 3 solid bags with the edge pellet, and Atlantic heat trimmed down wafter, i used a size 4 long shank beaked point hook in barbless and tied a hair rig with silicone on the bend of the hook trapping the hair in place. I was also using a drop of inline lead set up which was extremely important in my hook to land ratio, tied using 6inch of korda kable leadcore, spiced at either end and a size 8 swivel on the bottom end, i trimmed down a dark matter tail rubber and placed that on the leadcore, i then attached a 3oz flat pair inline on the lead by pushing the swivel and leadcore into the bottom end of the lead, i then used the tail rubber to trap the leadcore on top if the lead making it a drop off inline lead, and very aggressive, although the lake was fishing difficult, it was 3 hours in and i had a 21lb 8oz mirror, another 4 hours later at 2am i had a 24lb 12oz mirror, the next day was a struggle with fish moving away from me, but the following day they were back resulting in a 26lb 4oz mirror and a 26lb 14oz mirror as seen in the photo.
