Angler Name: Lewis Cole
Hometown: Frimley
Fish Weight: 33lb 6oz
Bait: Nash citruz Pop up ( washed out pink soaked in citruz juice and pink salt for weeks )
Venue: Swan Valley Yateley
Rig: Size 6 Chod Rig
Tactics: Washed out pink pop up with some 12millers spread around the perimeter to get the fish feeding. Couple of pouches pellet over the top and that was that
Additional Info: I started my morning off down the opposite end of the swan valley match lake. I was on fish but nothing seemed to be materialising and I wasnt get any indication they were feeding. I though I would take a browse around the lake ( after reeling my rods in of course ) and I noticed 2 big fish underneath the snags by the bridge. They seemed to be investigating the bottom which have me huge confidence to present a rig amongst them. I rushed back to my gear and packed up and made my way round to Simons swim. I changed my lead from a 2.5 Oz to a 1oz as I was only casting 20-25 yards and I wanted minimal disturbance on the cast. I soaked my Nash citruz pop up in glug and I was ready to go. Once the rig was in position I spread 6 to 7 12 mm citruz boilies 10 yards around the hookbait as I wanted the fish moving from one to another rather than feeding tightly on one spot. 2 pouches of pellet over the top and it was time for a bru. The lake went quiet with no foot traffic over the bridge and no passers by, I felt hopeful that a bite would come. just as I had a mouthful of tea my right hand rod tip slammed down and my bite alarm screamed off.....I was on ! Bullying me left and right my line got caught over a overhanging branch on the take but luckily came off without any damage. Simon who is a regular down Swan Valley was looking over from a distance with interest and I sensed he knew it was a good fish. After an intense 10 minute battle it finally came to the top and drifted graciously into my landing net....... 33lb 6 oz and a new PB by 13 pounds.A day I will never forget
