New PB
Cwestc1 | Jul 29, 2024
Angler Name: Callum Westcott
Fish Weight: 32.8lb
Bait: Slow sinking corn
Venue: Farlows
Rig: Fluro D rig
Tactics: Minimal bait, sit and wait
Additional Info: Had a break from Carp fishing for a couple of years, first session back did 24 hours on Lake 2 at farlows, the man in the swim next to me said he’d seen the previous angler put around 3kg of bait into a bay I was planning on fishing so I was skeptical to add much more, I cast under an overhanging bush and walked round to the far bank throwing 3 handfuls of corn/pellet mix over the top of my rig.
Not a single beep all day, followed by a flurry of bream around 1:30 am, my other rods on different spots were no different and had zero action, but first light I didn’t touch the rod and just put another 4 handfuls over the top after being cleared out by break. Around 9:30 it screamed off and realized it wasn’t a bream.
After around 5 minutes I saw the tail splash on the surface and caught a glimpse of the fish for the first time and realized it was a very pretty fish.
I managed to land it and was just grinning from ear to ear, after weighing it I became even more excited having caught a new PB and my first carp over 20lb in nearly 2 years off the bank.
