Angler Name: Tim Sears
Hometown: Shepperton
Fish Weight: 48.10
Bait: Mainline link
Venue: Ashmead
Rig: Standard Bottom bait
Tactics: Fishing off the rod tips
Additional Info: An emotional trip to Ashmead saw me catch 2 lovely commons of 26 and 33.8 respectively and inbetween those captures, the queen of the lake, single scale came to visit.
This trip was my best mates(Mick)annual pilgrimage, but he unfortunately passed away last year very suddenly.
I took the space up & opted to use his rods and reels for the occasion.
Coming out last in the draw,I decided to use Ashmeads outer perimeter to my advantage & bait any likely looking spots close to the bank, then regularly check them for activity.
Fishing was right off the rod tips &,of course, this means absolute quiet and so I was setting myself up quite a way back from the rods.
Small amounts of washed out mainline link & cell with a particle mix of hemp, maples, maize & bloodworm pellets were offered as freebies over each rod & washed out link hookbaits fished right on the deck were the ones that seemed to work.
