20/20 SNUGS GOAL POSTSome say I’m a tackle tart, others state I have OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) but all I know is that I cannot spend my time behind wonky rods and alarms. I know it won’t make me catch any more carp; well I couldn’t catch any less! It simply drives me mad. I want my setup to look cocked and ready, not like I have just tipped over my barrow and left the contents where they fell. Having taken the 20/20 Snugs Goal Post system out on my last outing it was a joy to be able to obtain a level and neat three-rod setup with minimal fuss and effort.

A lightweight fully adjustable aluminium rod pod, which is best suited to quick, short sessions and anglers who like to keep on the move. Supplied in a practical carry case, the SQR Pod can be adjusted in height and length to suit your setup. A great little design feature is the countersunk screw system on the three-rod buzz bar, allowing you to get your alarms and rear rod rests in perfect alignment every time. Can be used as either a full pod system or broken down into a neat goalpost setup.

When a rod pod is too much but banksticks simply won’t do, what you need is the Specialist tripod. It houses three fully adjustable legs that extend from 30 to 58 centimetres but will also accommodate the outer section of any Cygnet Specialist storm poles for a much greater level of elevation. Weighing a very modest 400g this is a ridiculously lightweight product that’s been designed with stability and versatility firmly in mind. This is the perfect item for either fishing on hard surfaces, roving situations and offers you the ability to take awesome self-take shots with the addition of a camera adaptor.

I use the Resolute hard anodised aluminium bankware and absolutely love it. So when this pod came to my attention I just had to get one in for a closer look. It’s compact, very compact in fact, and its simple design is both functional and extremely robust, yet despite its simplicity I think it looks great too, especially with rods on. There is a ‘standard’ version as well but, brilliantly, CAS will actually custom build them to your spec, including spirit levels and bobbin threads that can be integrated.

We’ve chosen six at random to see what they’re all about… GROUP TEST | Another new series in TC, Group Test is about giving you the right information on a small range of similar products. By choosing six of each per month, we can keep the information relevant and we hope to offer a variety of models each time. First up are pods, still hugely popular items with TC readers that we haven’t looked as for a while. We took six from a variety of manutacturers and put each one through its paces.
