Korda ace Ed Betteridge has reported more success from large Berkshire venue, Burghfield. He has been targetting the venue for the duration of the year, and explained:
“After a slow start in the spring, I knew I had to change my approach. So, through the summer months I started pre-baiting a few areas where I was seeing fish on a regular basis. Constantly feeding bait into these zones was sure to boost their confidence and encourage the carp to feed more freely on my ever-faithful Hybrid boilies. This decision has definitely made a big difference to the results I have achieved during my campaign so far.
My most recent captures include a long, lean 32lb 12oz half linear and a stunning mirror of 37lb. Both of the fish came from one of my long-range, pre-baited areas. Now it was simply a case of keeping the bait going in throughout the autumn, as long as I did so, the carp continued to feed. Dependent on the weather, I’ll carry on plugging away, right through the winter months, hopefully bagging a few more Burghfield beauties along the way.
From looking through my list of captures of this year, the 37lb mirror meant that I was getting closer to banking a full house of thirties, in every pound increment, from 30lb to 39lb. This is especially pleasing when both of the waters I have been fishing are low stock and catching a few fish a year is an achievement in itself.
Hopefully the latter parts of the autumn, going into the winter, are as kind to me as my year has been so far.”
