Fox’s Belgian consultant Chris de Clercq recently enjoyed a superb trip to one of the big lakes in the south of France where he managed to catch a number of superb carp including the picture lovely 42lb 3oz mirror.
For the first couple of days, Chris baited up several carpy looking spots around the lake with a mixture of Cell boilies and tigernuts. When he arrived at one of the baited areas on the third morning he spotted several carp searching for more food in the gin clear water. Two Horizon 9ft stalker rods were rigged up with some seriously strong tackle as there were severe snags close by. Chris chose 45lbs Snag Leader, Edges Safety Lead Clips with 5oz Flat Pears and used 30lbs Armadillo Braided leader as a Hooklink with Tungsten sinkers to pin it down and a size 4 Arma Point SSBP hook. The hookbait was a Cell/tigernut combo and the lot was placed placed tight against a bed of water lilies.
Chris Did not have to wait long for the action to begin as half an hour later one of the tips bent double as Chris steered the fish into deeper water. After a breath taking battle under the boat the big mirror was finally ready for the net. Over the following days Chris received yet more hectic action and even got a double take which he managed to land succesfully.
